BRING: A keep cup, a picnic rug (if you wish) and a good appetite! Please also bring cash as not all stalls offer eftpos however there will be ATM’s on site!
DOGS: Unfortunately due to health and safety regulations, dogs are not allowed on site.

2019 GLUTEN FREE + FULL MENU REVEAL!

We are happy to announce that there will be over 20 gluten free $10 and $5 tasting plates on offer from the hand-picked selection of our region’s best restaurants, chefs and caterers at this year’s Sample Food Festival. 

Refer to the key on our festival menu for the huge variety of gluten free dishes available as well as vegetarian, vegan and dairy free options!

We are so excited to have plant-based programming across our stalls, restaurants and cooking stage at #SampleFoodFest this year and to be introducing Vegan Lane – a dedicated hub of plant-based market stalls.

2019 VEGAN TASTING PLATES… 
There is a great selection of vegan tasting plates available this year from No Bones, Yulli’s Byron Bay, Bang Bang Byron Bay,  Federal Doma Cafe & Bellingen Qudo Cafe & Sake, Chupacabra, Ilias The Greek, Shoza Gyoza, Koobideh, Luscious Foods and Bombay to Byron. VEGAN COOKING DEMONSTRATION…
Vegan Made Easy 10:30 AM AT THE MAIN COOKING STAGE!  – Vegan Chef Trainer Veet Karen will be demonstrating how easy and delicious vegan cooking can be. She will show you how to make vegan butter, two vegan cheeses, a creamy vegan carbonara sauce for pasta and a vegan omelette. During the cooking demo she will share how to make vegan food nutritious and filling. 

 

WORKSHOPS + ACTIVITIES

FORAGING TOUR & FERMENTATION MASTERCLASS – 10:30am – Ever wanted to learn how to harvest and preserve the abundant wild ingredients hiding in your own backyard in a sustainable way? Join pioneering forager and wild food researcher of 40 years Peter Hardwick as he takes you through this important and fascinating modern native food movement. BOOK HERE 

JILLY WINE – MEET THE WINEMAKER – 11.30am and 1pm @ The Cellar Marquee – Catch local winemaker Jared Dixon from Jilly Wines for a “Meet the Winemaker” Jared will be sampling and discussing his very popular minimum intervention wines. Spaces are limited and bookings can be made on the day.

BUNDJALUNG WEAVING CIRCLES – 11am & 1pm – Join members and friends of the Bundjalung Ballina GMARS where you will learn how to weave baskets with traditional fibres such as pandanus and lomandra, in a series of introductory 90 minute weaving circles. BOOK HERE 

FUN WITH CLAY WORKSHOPS – Create your own ceramic mug with Mullumbimby School of Sculpture and Ceramics. All mugs will be professionally dried, fired, glazed and glaze fired in Mullumbimby. See what sessions are available and BOOK HERE or at the festival.

Viv’s Animal Farm- an interactive animal farm activity! Feed the animals breakfast from 8am! *Please note – We regret to advise that due to unforeseen circumstances Viv’s Animal Farm will not be able to attend Saturday’s Sample Food Festival. We apologise for any disappointment caused.

Other activities for the little ones include candle making at Gold Coast Soy Candles, Art activities at 4Kidz & Sandwizard, Fun with Clay with Mullumbimby School of Sculpture and Ceramics and weaving workshops at the Bundjalung Weaving Circle.
