Doña Cholita is all about bringing authentic Mexican food into our homes and we have been using their organic and gluten free corn tortillas and totopos (corn tortilla chips) for years. It really goes without saying that we are thrilled to have them join us for Sample Food Festival 2021! The truth is, once you use their tortillas to make mexican at home, there’s no way you will go back to using anything else!
Doña Cholita, based in Northern NSW, is owned by Jefte and Joey Juarez and was was founded in 2015 with a dream to bring heart and soul to Mexican food in Australia. Born from a yearning for quality Mexican food and on a mission to make a tortilla that matched those eaten all over Mexico, Jefte and Joey imported a tortilla oven from Mexico and their journey to bring Aussies a little bit of Mexican magic into their homes began.
Mercado Juarez
In 2020 Jefte and Joey opened Mercado Juarez, a takeaway Mexican taqueria using the street frontage of their tortilleria in Burringbar, Northern NSW. Jefte and Joey feel that food is so ingrained in the culture in mexico that it’s a way to people to connect and express their passion and love for life. With this in mind, their new venture is all about bringing people together through their love of mexican food. It is a testament to their Mexican heritage and gives them a way to share their passion for Mexican food with Australia.
