Eating good food is a choice, it requires some engagement, some involvement beyond the simpliest transactions the food industry lays out for us. For most foodies finding, preparing and sharing great food and beverage is part of the journey. It’s something they embrace as central to the experience.

The Artisan Producer Masterclasses at Byron Bay Fine Food & Beverage Festival were created with the food lover in mind. We wanted to create an experience that not only conveys the tactical elements of creating and sharing great food, but also the culture, the artistry and the passion of fine food producers.

To assist us in curating our Producer Masterclasses we turned to Kate Walsh. A self-taught cook, sustainable food advocate and entrepreneur, Kate is also the author of “Real Food Projects Cookbook. 30 Skills. 46 Recipes. For Scratch.”.

However Kate is not only wrangling the Artisan Producer Masterclass Marquee at #ByronFoodFest, she will also presenting the first Masterclass of the day; “Break Up With Your Supermarket with Kate Walsh” from 11:30am – 12:10.

Break Up With Your Supermarket Masterclass

Let’s face it, an enormous portion of what most Australian households eat begins with a trip to the Supermarket.

In this class Kate will show you that overhauling your pantry is the first step to eating more conciously and eating “Real Food”. Not only that Kate will make it easy and will show you how to start cooking your staples from scratch.

You’ll learn simple techniques for making pickles, no knead bread and macadamia chocolate butter (which you might know by the name nutella!).

With a few basic skills you can be on your way to making and eating “Real Food” at home, kick the “processed food habit” and break up with your supermarket.

It’s not you, it’s us, we’ve changed.

Like all of the Producer and Beverage Masterclasses at Byron Bay Fine Food & Beverage Festival, numbers are limited and can be registered for at the relevant Marquee at the festival.

Kate’s class will be limited to 40 people. So grab your #ByronFoodFest tickets now and get there early to register for Kate’s class.
