This year’s Sample lunch to be held at the Bangalow A&I Hall on Friday 6th September, will be a thoughtful curation of inventive dishes, reconnecting us to the Northern Rivers‘ mountains and seas.

Key elements of each course will be foraged from our region and cooked, smoked, burnt, or buried with fire. This primal and honest method of cooking, showcasing the unique wild ingredients and allowing a sensory journey of earthy aromas and sophisticated flavours.

Fresh seasonal spring produce and native bush and ocean ingredients will be featured on the menu, prepared for you by some of the most innovative chefs from this region and beyond. Canapes and six courses with matching wines by ArtWine, brews by Stone & Wood and Cider by Treehouse Cider. Botero Coffee.

Learn how to make the most of your phone camera and take beautiful food photos in a hands-on workshop with acclaimed food photographer Fran Flynn on Thursday 5th September 2019 at the Cavanbah Centre in Byron Bay

This small-group experience puts you in the same room as an experienced professional food photographer for an action packed day. You will enjoy a combination of lessons and practical sessions with beautiful food and props, in Byron Bay in a wonderful light-filled space. This workshop includes a delicious catered lunch.

This fascinating masterclass looking into the secretive world of foraging and native ingredients will be held on Saturday 7th September 2019, departing from theSample Food Festival at the Bangalow Showground

With the ever increasingly popularity in wild and native foods such as lemon myrtle, riberries, warrigal greens and aniseed myrtle and the important social movement to limit food waste there is no better time to learn about the abundant and overlooked food-source in your neighbourhood. 

Join Peter for this unique 40 minute foraging walk along the creek and around Bangalow, leaving from the Sample Food Festival at the Bangalow Showground, followed by a 30 minute masterclass on fermentation, making wild kombucha vinegars and pickling wild ingredients. Class sizes are very limited so book in early!
