This week our Sample a taste of Northern New South Wales event (or #SampleFoodFest as many of you know it), had the honour of being recognised by NSW government’s 2017 Flagship Event Fund. The fund is a Destination NSW initiative devised to support significant region events.

The Regional Flagship Events Program identifies and supports events in Regional NSW that have the potential to act as‘cornerstone’, or Flagship, tourism events for their area by attracting overnight visitation and delivering long term benefits to their region. Monday afternoon Sample founder Remy Tancred met with Minister For Tourism And Major Events Adam Marshall and Ben Franklin MLC to discuss the festival and how support from the Regional Flagship Event Fund will assist the festival over the next 3 years.

"It was a pleasure to discover that both the Minister and the Honorable Member are country boys and totally get our commitment to local producers." Remy said "Their support and understanding means a lot. The Flagship Event funding will allow us to improve the promotion of our next 3 festivals, it's really exciting."

#SampleFoodFest has always enjoyed excellent support from sponsors, producers and the community, the 2017 event which takes place on Saturday 2nd September will be no different. However this latest recognition gives us more motivation to live up to the hefty title of "Flagship Event".
